I did not ride 769.63 miles yesterday...

Though mapmyride thinks I did.  And in fact I rode straight across the gulf of mexico....awesome.  I'm going to blame the overcast weather for screwing up the gps or something...

Anyhoos.. 52 miles of fun in Dobbin.  I'm continuing my quest to not SAG out a ride this summer, and thus far, I've had no reason to.  Mind you, hills are still evil. But I've been indoctrinated by the coaches enough to switch gears and just keep pedaling.

(All pictures stolen from Carl, waking up and pedaling is enough work for me)

Ugh! I always look awful on a bike...
Team Pic.

The reward for this ride....the Blue Pig, one of the most delicious burgers I've had.  Though I'm not surprised there isnt a website for Dobbin City Hall...I like this write up of the place.

Ok, back to watching political animals...interesting thus far.

Rain, rain...

Go away.

It looked like this this morning...so at least we did a mile.  Houston's flooding in July and there are no tropical storms or hurricanes on the horizon....global warming anyone?

Cycling for a Cure

July 6, 2012

Dear Friend,

You’ve been with me this entire journey.  You were there last year when I began cycling as a part of Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training.  You were there with me as I raised over $5,000 for cancer research, as I biked the equivalent of Houston to Austin four times training while last summer and in Honolulu, and you were with me as became a connoisseur of farmers tans, dodging road kill and sunrises on country roads in Texas.

I’m asking you to be with me again as I continue  the journey to raise money for cancer and take on 102 miles of desert heat on Sept 22 in Las Vegas.  Will you make a donation to support cancer research, advocacy and patient assistance?
This past weekend I passed the 1,000 mile mark on my bike, another milestone in this journey.
Thank you for your support.

We all hate cancer.  We have all lost someone because of cancer.  We all hope for the day when cancer is akin to polio, measles or any deadly disease of the early1900’s that everyone feared.  But we are not there yet.  The LLS uses your donation to further research, and help make the lives of patients and their families easier while they fight for their lives.   The money raised by TNT participants has enabled LLS to fund millions of dollars of research to help advance new treatments and cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and provide critical education and support to cancer patients and their families.  Nearly 50% of all cancer drugs approved by the FDA during the past decade were for blood cancers. And five of those drugs have been approved for patients with solid tumors and others are being tested for other indications.

So please join me again in 2012 and make a donation here and follow my journey at britdoeslife.com.

Hill Training

10:27 PM Posted by brit No comments
...I won't lie and say I'm slightly freaking out about hill training starting on Saturday.  I remember last year...and the absolute suckage that hill training is. I believe the closest thing I ever had to a nightmare about inanimate objects would be, hill training.  Hopefully my secret weapon (speakers!!) and a spin class will do some magic and in all honesty I havent felt at any point this season nearly as bad as last season.  Actually enjoying training, and looking forward to Saturdays...imagine that.  Tomorrow's plans are running in the morning, and some interval training after work.  Can't believe its been a week and a half since I've done any exercise. Ugh.

ok kindle + bed time.

For the sake of rounding...62 mile ride.

10:57 AM Posted by brit No comments

And more importantly! I surpassed 1,000 miles of riding on my bike.  Wow. That's alot of pedaling that even I cant believe!

Good ride, finished right before the rain started.  But my butt was hurting something fierce....I think a real bike fit and/or new saddle is in my future.  With my plan to make every practice this season, I'm gonna put in a lot more hours on the saddle this time
