Wiped

3:56 PM Posted by brit No comments
I remember this feeling of being completely crapped out tired.  It was like every weekend summer 2011 and 2012.

ugh.....
Four point something miles. Exhausted. Um...about that 13.1. Pretty sure I'm gonna die.

Now in commemoration of the ides of march...watching my favorite show of all time. Obvs the Ides of March season four finale episode.

Xena: Warrior Princess!!!!
More couch loitering to commence.  Managed to sign myself up for the Tour de Houston tomorrow....let's see how much these 45 miles hurt by this time tomorrow.

Yesterday's run...

9:48 AM Posted by brit No comments
Was hard. Whoever said you don't lose your running fitness for weeks, lied.

That or running in the evening after I'm fully awake is bad for me. My brain protests EVERYTHING !

Also my knee has been... Weird to say the least. I hope it gets its act together. Ain't nobody got time for that!! (Sweet brown =amazing)

Pic is Harlie post run, staring down a squirrel.

It's almost been a month!

9:01 PM Posted by brit No comments
And I haven't blogged.  Falling off the wagon because of life...

In the past month I've:
-left a job
-started a new job (but still working at the old one temporarily)
-volunteered/stressed out over the special election for state senate district 6.  (WOOHOOO so happy for senator-elect sylvia garcia!!!)
 -stressed out over new job
-bought lots of clothes, shoes for new job
-spent like $600 on car maintenance
-been massively wasted twice, not a regular occurrence for me
-did I mention stress????

-I've run a lot less during this time, probably the exact opposite of what I need to be doing.
-I started off great with paleo, but I've winded up falling off the wagon with that.  I place to return back to that, with the help of snap kitchen.
-Biking.....ms150 is coming up and I'm starting to get real worried about that. MUST.GET.ON.BIKE. SOOOON. trying to figure out how to incorporate that into my day. Maybe after work since the days are getting longer daylight-wise.
-HALF MARATHON...AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
-Work. Being at the office at 8a is a new concept for me. Very new concept requiring me to wake up real early to work out. real early. crazy early.

-And now the time change.....I'm going to be the first to say I'm going to get addicted to coffee.

Ok the stress is starting again.

I can say, I did have a great time this weekend.  I love my friends, all of them and their specific groups combined!  Great times.

Ok, off to prepare for sleep.  More regular updates hopefully.

Sweet Nothing

I LOVE this song. LOVE. Matter of fact this whole album. Great running music. Anyone want to go see Calvin Harris with me???

It's been a slow week running-wise, but a great week paleo-wise. Real life (i.e. work) has taken up a ton of my time

But I did do the rhythm and blues 5K.  And despite walking 2 out of the three miles with Hill and Aaron (love finding people - still did a 15-something/minute mile).  So even if I wall ALL of San Diego...that'll be under 18/miles. Score.

So yea. Short post. Old job/new job transition is killing me.  I've discovered startbucks americanos.  Espresso and water for the win!

3 miles!

5:14 PM Posted by brit No comments
In a row... All at once! Happened this morning. Wasn't bad.  And let me bold this gloating moment for Lillie.

Lillie was right. Slow down to run longer. Ugh, I'm sure I'll never live that down. EVER

Despite needing to be somewhere at 7:15a tomorrow, I'm considering waking up super early to run again.

After this momentous occasion I made myself a smoothie.  Not just any smoothie a super paleo smoothie.  Complete with:
coconut milk
frozen berries
banana
almond butter
and ...wait for it. a egg. a RAW egg.

It was pretty hardcore. I felt like Rocky or something
But it was actually pretty good. So i'll be making more of these suckers.

De plane! De plane!

7:34 PM Posted by brit No comments
Waiting for takeoff and decided to blog about how crappy I feel because of the last two days of eating grains/carbs.
I'm totally a paleo believer now. I didn't now that half the crap I'm feeling now, bloated and burpy, wasn't normal.
A week off.. In which I didn't miss the grains at all.... Ugh.
Ready to get back on track! Can't wait for running and cooking for the rest of the week tomorrow.
Oooh no one in the middle seat FTW!!

Wins and Losses

12:41 PM Posted by brit No comments
Morning Win - Waking up for 6am yoga.
Morning Loss - Going back to asleep after coming home from 6am yoga. And then waking up again to goto work.

That balances right? #babysteps

At least I'm less sore from Sunday yoga. Forrest ain't no joke, seriously. That move where Mr. Instructor dude wanted us to put on let on the wall and kick the other leg up.....no ma'am.  Yoga is not supposed to remind me of traumatic 6th grade gym classes where I was too afraid to do a cartwheel.

Not me. But you get the idea.

Yea, I'd forgotten that vivid memory too...until Sunday forrest yoga...

A Week Out

So a week ago I got re-inspired by Houston Marathon weekend.  It's nothing short of amazing to see so many people out there, people who don't look like the cover of runners world...running.  And my awesome, crazy die hard friends who did it.  Joe, Tanya, Barry, Aly..It totally left me inspired.

Google search of runners world covers...seriously?!?

I've been kinda looking for some direction, some inspiration lately.  And in these few first days of 2013, it's already looking like it's going to be way better than 2012.  I'm really looking forward to it.

My 5k race time.  Felt good to do something other than memorial park. And get a medal!
I think fitness wise, I know what I need to do. I think what I've neglected is nutrition.  Which really is like 80% of the results you see.  Back when I was younger and less busy and lost a lot of weight, I only really had to work on the fitness part.  Now that I'm older and have tried to educate myself more (usually in the middle of a why-isnt-this-working?!? stage) I know I need to change my diet. And my lifestyle of boozing with my friends isnt exactly helping the weight loss cause.  So paleo here we come.

Rough long run.  Haven't done one since early December.
Oh and running. Lot's of it.  Moved back my half marathon goal to San Diego in early June. Team in Training for the win.

edit: Just finished forrest yoga.  Hurts!

Houston Marathon Weekend.

12:44 PM Posted by brit No comments
I just realized why one finger on each hand has been hurting.  I've been wondering since yesterday, looking to see if I had a papercut I couldnt see or something.

It just dawned on me.  I was ringing cowbells on each of those fingers and thats where the metal loop kept hitting my fingers.  A little bruise is even forming on the hand that I held my cowbell in the most.

Team in training rocked cheer stop mile 5.

Totally borrowed from Tanya. Lol
